It’s so easy to get caught up when it comes to what we want, or rather what we don’t want in our life and both can be time consuming-matter of fact, draining. I don’t know about you, but I know that for me, I’ve had my fair share of moments in my life where I’ve obsessed over the type of life I wanted to have. Between wanting to lose weight, manifesting the right type of man into my life, and getting my finances straight, I have spent more time than I’d like to admit obsessing over and thinking about what I needed to change in order to make my thoughts a reality.
There is nothing wrong with envisioning the type of life that you want to live but there is a limit to how much you should be thinking about those things versus living in the present moment and enjoying the now. Thinking about what you want out of your life and feeling the emotion that you believe to experience when that vision comes to life is ESSENTIAL in manifesting what you want (if you are not sure what manifestation is check out my How to Use Manifestation to Improve your Well-Being post here _____). The important thing to remember is that you don’t want to get caught up with focusing on the future and forget to live in the present moment. Because at the end of the day, all you really have is right now anyway so while we are thinking about our goals and the type of life we want to live moving forward, it’s equally as important-if not more-to focus on what we appreciate about our life and makes us feel good in this exact moment.
So what are you happy about in your present life? What makes you feel amazing and keeps you going right now? Sit with this feeling for as long as you can and appreciate that feeling for what it is. Shifting your focus on what makes you feel good is a powerful tool that you can use at any moment of your day and it’s up to you to decide when you want to use it. I’m challenging you to think about the things in your life that bring you instant joy, especially on the harder days. So your friendships, relationships, family, animals, music, working out, cooking, being outdoors, journaling, praying, meditating, watching your favorite show, etc. We all have something that we can rely on that brings us joy, and while most of us ultimately have goals and dreams that will bring us a sense of freedom, happiness, confidence, and/or belonging, those are actually emotions we can find in our everyday life.
So continue to have goals and strive to improve your well-being, but also acknowledge the ways you can find happiness in your day-to-day. This is something you can journal, draw, or make a poster of. You can take this a step further and put it somewhere where you will always see that reminder!
