Importance of Honest Self Reflection

Importance of Honest Self Reflection

Be honest. What do you want out of your life? Really ask yourself what it is. Do you want to have a healthier lifestyle? One where you envision yourself eating more fruits and veggies and moving your body intentionally throughout the day? Or one where you cut back on drinking, or stop entirely? Maybe you even want to start being kinder to yourself. Why is that? Is this something you want in your life based on what you value as an individual or does it have to do with something outside of you?

Often times, we have these goals and say we want something out of our life but can’t really say why we want that thing. If you want to have an immense level of self-respect, want to go to the gym, learn to eat mindfully-really whatever your goal is-your reality, you need to do two important things: 1. Identify your why aka, ask yourself what you want, why this matters to you, and what it means to you. 2. Realize and accept that anything you want when it comes to the wellness space isn’t going to be something you “accomplish” and then it’s done with. Whatever it is that you want, is going to need attention before, during, and after. Meaning, if you want to go to the gym more often because you want to feel more confident, it’s something you’ll have to make space for as a part of your lifestyle that you embark on throughout your life journey. And if you want to learn how to be kinder to yourself, you’ll have to practice positive self-talk throughout your life journey. Please note this very important keyword: throughout-meaning, you don’t ever really stop.

There is no way that you can build a healthier and happier life, the one you are looking for, if you don’t make your habits a regular practice. The point here is that your wellness journey, your LIFE journey, is a journey….it’s a process and learning to embrace it as a part of who you are and something you are committed to taking care of, will make the journey worth it!
